William James Henson, affectionately known as “Bugg,” transitioned into his eternal home gently and peacefully, surrounded by his loving and devoted wife, Cynthia, and son, James. William was the oldest son of the late Lottie Mae Rawlings Henson McCowan, and his very special dad he called “Pop,” Thomas Linwood McCowan. William is also proceeded in death by his oldest son Eric Henson, and older sister Shirley Johnson. He is a lifelong resident of Louisa County, although he resided in Charlottesville briefly. William was educated in Louisa County Public Schools and was a proud member of Evergreen Bible Way Church congregation under the leadership of Rev. Steven A. Mason. William worked as a self-employed logger in construction, and worked for the Covenant School for over 25 years.

Surviving William is his wife, Cynthia, soulmate and love of his eye for over 40 years, and his son and namesake, William James Henson Jr. During Williams illness, Cynthia devoted herself to render care for him out of the love and respect only she could give. She cared for him with unconditional love and support. Their son, James, who resides at home with his parents, is a loving and devoted son with a steadfast bond to Cynthia and William. William is also survived by his special daughter, Hope Tyson, her husband Irvin, and their “feather-baby,” Gizmo.

Also surviving are his grandchildren; Alyssa, Antone, andAhmed, and great grandson Mikel, and his siblings; Jestean, Ragland, Owen, Joyce Christmas and her husband, Arthur, Barbara Jordan, and Bennett’s minister Lawrence Henson and his wife, Pricilla, and Darnell Henson and his wife, Leslie, and brother-in-law’s Samuel DuVall and Chuck Anderson. Other grandchildren include Brandon Johnson (Latoya), and their four special children. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

William’s special friends he considered like family, include;Marvin Boswell (aka Dad), Bob Michie (aka Brother), Kevin “Weed” Hackney, Nancy Haney (aka Picky Picky), Alvin Brack(aka Ollie), and wife Leslie Christmas.

William enjoyed watching television with James, especially wrestling, Andy Griffith shows, and western movies. William and Cynthia enjoyed going to estate sales and taking leisurely rides around town.

William’s wife Cynthia, and son, James, extend heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the compassion and condolences given during this difficult time. May God bless each of you.
