Paul S. Cameron

Paul S. Cameron, Sr., 88 of Mineral, VA passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021. He was born on January 20, 1933, to Robert Griffin Cameron and Fannie Jones Cameron. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia "Puddin" Dabney Sheridan, and brothers, Ralph Cameron and Bobby Cameron, Jr.

He was employed at the Mineral Post Office for over 40 years and served in the US Army. He was a member of the Mineral Volunteer Fire Department for many years and served as Chief from 1961-1971. He also served as Chairman and Ringmaster of the Mineral Horse Show.

He was an avid quail and rabbit hunter who loved to compete and judge in field trials. He was also a member of the Central Virginia Quail Hunters Association and Elk Creek Hunt Club.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Julia Dabney Trice Cameron; his son, Paul Stewart Cameron, Jr. (Tracy); son-in-law, Frankie Sheridan (Kris); two grandsons, Patrick Sheridan (Ann) and Tyler Cameron (Ashley); two granddaughters, Nikki Sheridan and Morgan Dabney Cameron Hollins (Dillon); five great grandchildren, Timmy, Halle, Julia, Henry and Holland; and his sister, Grace Cameron Flannagan, of Greensboro, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 9am on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa, VA. A celebration of life will follow at the Chief Paul S. Cameron, Sr. Pavilion at Walton Park in Mineral, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Mineral Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 274, Mineral, VA 23117 , for the Walton Park fund.

Arrangements are being handled by Sheridan Funeral Home in Kents Store, VA.
