Denton R. Wilson

Denton R. Wils on, (73), of Troy, Virginia, went to be with his heavenly Father on December 5, 2022. Denton, better known as Denny, was born to Pearl Erwin and Raydene Wilson on February 12, 1949, in Los Angeles, California. He is survived by his children Michael, Justus, Joshua, Stephen, and Sarah, his sister Edra Mallory, along with his grandchildren Trevor, Nate, McKenzie, Guido, Amelia, Adyson, Lucas, Lillian, Ophelia, and Rainer. Denny was predeceased by his parents Pearl and Raydene, his sister Rebecca, his nephew Denny and niece Kimmy, along with his grandson Cory. Denny was a Chief Warrant Officer and Helicopter Pilot in the United States Army National Guard, a Vietnam Veteran, a decorated hero, and Pastor. Denny lived his life in dedication to God and provided fellowship and support to all those around him. Denny was passionate about rehabilitation and spent most of his retired years working with those with substance abuse issues through non-profits such as Briana’s Hope, mentoring to prison inmates through Prison Mission, and providing fellowship and spiritual leadership to his church and community. We are comforted in the knowledge that Denny knew where he was going, when he passed on from this life. If you asked Denny “Where are you going?”, “To Heaven!” he would say with a smile on his face and hope in his heart, for he knew that he was ready to go be with his Heavenly Father at any time. Service will be held at Mount Eagle Baptist Church on Saturday December 10, 2022. Doors open at 11:00 AM, service to proceed at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Denny’s favorite local non-profit organizations, Love Inc. and Bridge Ministry, or Prison Mission Association.
