Gwendolyn “Gwen” Graham

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Graham, 89, passed away at 1:10pm on August 9, 2021 at the Envoy At The Village Nursing Home in Fork Union, VA. She had been living with Dementia for 13 years.

Gwen was born in Toronto, Canada on January 29, 1932 and moved to England with her mother, Agnes Faraho, in the late1940s. She came to America in the early 1950s and later onbecame an American citizen.

She married Jay Hartman in Pennsylvania and had two children,Carol DeMatteo and Frances Hartman.  He later passed away in 1968.

Gwen loved to sing, write novels and was very active in the Single Parents Society. She loved to travel and go to the beach every summer with her children. She was also an avid church goer; she loved the old hymns and sang in the choir.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carol and Frances; many cousins in Pennsylvania, Ernest and Robert Roebuck, Randall, Barry and Kevin Hartman; all six children of Lore Hartman; Jill Roebuck in England; and many others too numerous to mention.

Gwen loved animals as much as she loved life, so in lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations in her name to her favorite charities, Fluvanna SPCA and Caring For Creatures.Arrangements are being handled by Sheridan Funeral Home in Kents Store, VA.
