Laverne “Rae” Powers

Laverne "Rae" Powers , 86, of Goochland, VA, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2022 at the home of her nephew, Kevin, and his wife, Vicki Scruggs. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her last days. Known lovingly as Rae Rae to her family, she watched and helped raise many of the Scruggs and Powers children. Rae loved to be outside in her garden and always shared what grew with her family.  She was proud to share with all about her garden that she had planted 100 tomato plants. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Iris Kae Powers and Merle Powers Scruggs. She is survived by her brothers, Claude Powers "Jerry" and Dale Powers; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Norman Funeral Chapel, 2982 River Road West, Goochland VA . Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5, at 10:00 AM in the Mausoleum of the Westhampton Memorial Cemetery at 10000 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, VA. Graveside dedication will be held immediately following the funeral service.
