Dorothy Louise Perry Shumake

Dorothy Louise Perry Shumake, 86, of Bumpass, VA, received her angel wings on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born December 17, 1935 in Louisa County to Wallace and Mary Perry. Dorothy was married to her soul mate and love of her life, Charles Shumake, Sr., for 68 years. A family of two grew into a family of 48, counting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she loved them all with all of her heart and soul. She was a faithful servant to her God and is now rejoicing in heaven in her eternal home.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Mary Perry; brothers, Willie, Eugene and Buck; sisters, Emma, Lelia and Mary-Ann; and her sweet, loving daughter, Anita Shumake Graves. She is survived by her husband, Charles Shumake, Sr.; daughter, Linda Woods (Tony); sons, Charles Shumake, Jr. (Gayle), Arnold Shumake (Sone) and Norman Shumake (Jennifer); sister, Gertrude Stanley; brother, Gordon Perry; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Huntington Community Fellowship (formerly Louisa Church of the Nazarene), 147 Shortmans Road, Mineral, VA 23117 . Interment will follow at Spring Grove Memorial Cemetery, Mineral, VA. Family will accept visitation before the service starting at 11:00am . Arrangements are being handled by Sheridan Funeral Home in Kents Store, VA.
