Samuel James Bishop passed away on September 21, 2021, at the age of 22 at his home in Palmyra, Virginia, after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born on November 13, 1998, in Richmond, Virginia. He was a loving son, brother, grandson and boyfriend. Sam is survived by his parents, Raymond and Lori, Vanessa Fleenor; as well as his sister, Riley; his brother, Wesley; and his grandparents, Paula Bishop and Sonny and Bertha Walters. He also leaves behind a loving girlfriend, Alysa Pugmire, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Sam graduated from Fluvanna County High School in 2017. After high school, he became a U.S. Marine and served in the Marine Corp Infantry as a rifleman. He loved his country and was very passionate about studying history. He loved the shooting sports, playing football, books and spending time with his family. He dreamed of finding someone to love and his girlfriend, Alysa, fulfilled that dream for him. For that, the family is forever grateful. A memorial service will be held at Fork Union Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 2pm. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:30pm - 2pm. A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family following the service at their family cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) or The American Melanoma Foundation (melanomafoundation.org). Lawrence Wesley Cawthorne, Sr., 73, passed away in Palmyra, Virginia on September 21, 2021. Lawrence was born in Fork Union, Virginia on November 9, 1947 to Annie Viola and Prince Wesley Cawthorne. Along with his loving parents, Lawrence is predeceased by two sisters, Ms. Maxine Mayo and Ms. Bessie Lyell, and a brother, Mr. William Cawthorne. Lawrence attended Fluvanna County Schools and was thereafter a hard worker, having been employed at many locations including Cosner Brothers, The REA Energy Cooperative, RC Omohundro, Inc., and other esteemed locations before retiring in 2012 from Armstrong World Industries. Lawrence is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Gail Lee of Fairfax, Virginia; children, Tammy Jo Richardson (Warren), Lawrence Wesley Cawthorne, Jr. (Kasity), Gary Wayne Cawthorne and Brian Lee Cawthorne (Morgan); a great number of adoptive sons he has acquired over the years; seven grandchildren, Jayden, Parker, Ethan, Trevor, Alaina, Savannah and Zoey; three sisters; a brother; as well as countless nieces and nephews. Lawrence or "Buck" as he was so often called by his family and peers, loved the outdoors. He enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting as any country gentleman would. Being a diehard western film fan, he loved chatting with whomever would listen about his experiences over a "nice cold beer". He loved to talk, dance and put a smile upon everyone's face. Buck cared deeply for and touched the hearts of all whom crossed his path. He will truly be missed. Wilford H. "Charlie" Bowyer, 84, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2021. Wilford was born on February 26, 1937 in Cornwall, VA to the late Elmer and Rochie Bowyer. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley G. Bowyer; granddaughter, Ashlie Powell; brothers, Frank Bowyer, Bobby Bowyer and Charles Bowyer; and his sister, Helen Mays. He is survived by his daughters, Debra Waymoth and Wanda Powell (Zane); grandchildren, Christopher Powell, Brian Bowen (Sherri) and Christina Lemley (Mike); great grandchildren, Tiffany Bowen, Melissa Sluss, Michael Sluss and Hunter Bowen; brothers, Lawrence Bowyer, Mike Bowyer (Mary Ann) and Lester Bowyer (Karen); and numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from Dominion Virginia Power as a vehicle maintenance specialist in 1992. He also worked for the Goochland County Schools Department of Transportation. He was an avid collector of vehicles and loved his man cave (garage). He also loved Nascar and being with family in his spare time. A celebration of life will be held at 12pm on September 25, 2021 at Camp Accovac, 33021 Mountain Valley Road, Millboro, VA 24460. Esther O. White, 72, went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Margaret Oakley, and her husband, Kenneth C. White, Sr. She is survived by her two daughters, Marsha W. Beatty (John) and Tanya W. Proffitt (Roger); her stepson, Kenny C. White, Jr. (Lisa); seven grandchildren, Amber, Sherri, Kasey, Elizabeth, Hunter, Samantha and Ciera; and nine great grandchildren, Kirsten, Gabe, Jayden, Levi, Kameron, Aaliyah, Aamya, McKenzie and Tripp. Esther loved canning vegetables from her garden, as well as babysitting her  grandchildren and children of friends. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas. Her favorite Christmas decorations, and a hobby to collect, were Nutcrackers. Her favorite thing to do was camping with Roger, Tanya, the grandchildren and all of the great friends she came to love while camping with throughout the years. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Norman Funeral Chapel in Goochland, VA. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 18, 2021at Perkins Baptist Church in Goochland, VA. Graveside services will follow at Lyles Baptist Church in Fluvanna, VA where she will be laid to rest beside her husband of 47 years, so they can join hands once again.

Ronald Stuart Payne, 61, passed away on September 13, 2021. Ronald was born March 3, 1960 to the late Stuart and Mary Payne. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Bradford. Ronald is survived by his siblings, Martha Bailey (Jerry), Linda Calhoun (Mike) and Jan Abernathey (Donnie), as well as many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in the fellowship hall of Parham Road Baptist Church, 2101 North Parham Road, Henrico, VA. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Mount Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbia, VA. Clarence Preston Valentine, 62, passed away on September 12, 2021. He was born on December 31, 1958 to his parents, Edgar Valentine and Ruby Browning. Clarence is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Valentine. He is survived by his wife, Doris Gale Valentine; daughter, Jess Valentine; mother, Ruby Browning; and three sisters, Garnette Sullivan (Bill), Pamela Bappert (Raymond) and Cindy Davis (David). Dean Nelson Kincaid, 83, passed away on September 7, 2021 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. He was born on August 24, 1938 to his late parents, Howard and Ina Vandall Kincaid. Mr. Kincaid was an electrician by trade and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was also in the United States Army for four years before being honorably discharged. Dean is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kincaid; children, Robert Dean Kincaid (Tammy), Diana Dove (Richard) and Robin Kincaid; two grandsons, three granddaughters and two great granddaughters. Family and friends will meet from 6-7:30pm on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Sheridan Funeral Home in Kents Store, VA. Virginia Jane Williams Shull, 87, peacefully departed this world after her battle with cancer on September 6, 2021 at her home. Virginia was born in Fluvanna County and lived her life with her parents, Nellie and Bernard, until she met her husband, Roy Shull. They moved to Charlottesville and became longtime residents of the Belmont area. She took care of her husband, Roy, who was wheelchair-bound until his passing. Those who knew Virginia, knew her best as Granny. There wasn’t a soul she met that did not fall in love with her kind spirit and her amazing cooking. Virginia was always willing to help and listen to any soul that needed someone. She loved being a wife, mother and grandmother and spending time with her family. Virginia is survived by her daughters, Audrey Pritchette (Andy) and Joyce Eutsler (Samuel). She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, Lin Steward (Tiffany), Kelly Breeden (Brian), Jennifer Dorman (Dustin), Michael Dillow, Aaron Pritchette (Jessie) and Katie Eutsler. Virginia is also survived by her great-grandchildren whom she adored, Kayleigh Steward, Maci Dorman, Callie Breeden, Alayna Eyler, Richard Pritchette and Riley Dorman. She is survived by her brothers, Darnell Williams, Sam Williams and Harry “Johnny” Williams as well. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Shull; her mother, Nellie Thurston; her father, Bernard Williams; her sisters, Elizabeth “Liz” Williams, Lorraine “Reanie” Greer, Lois Price and Vicky Payne; and her brothers, Cecil Williams, Howard Williams and Clarence Williams. She is finally at peace with her beloved Roy. Her family has made arrangements for a viewing at 9am on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Sheridan Funeral Home in Kent Store, VA and a graveside service to follow at 10:30am at Lyles Baptist Church Cemetery in Palmyra, VA.

Linda Crawford Johnson, 76, of Goochland, VA, departed this life peacefully, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s on August 29, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Virginia Crawford; her husband of 42 years, Raymond ‘Mickey’ Johnson; and her sister, Judy Marie Wilson. She is survived by her three children, Victoria Dunn (Dean), Darrin Johnson (Deborah) and Tammy Edwards (Clay); four grandchildren, Meghan, Grayson, Lucas and Samantha Aida (Pedro); two great grandchildren, Olsen and Orlah Aida; three sisters, Barbara Ringwood, Heidi Powell and Vivian Clements; plus a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Our family would like to extend appreciation for the great care she received at Vitality Living over the last three years. Paul S. Cameron, Sr., 88 of Mineral, VA passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021. He was born on January 20, 1933, to Robert Griffin Cameron and Fannie Jones Cameron. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia "Puddin" Dabney Sheridan, and brothers, Ralph Cameron and Bobby Cameron, Jr. He was employed at the Mineral Post Office for over 40 years and served in the US Army. He was a member of the Mineral Volunteer Fire Department for many years and served as Chief from 1961-1971. He also served as Chairman and Ringmaster of the Mineral Horse Show. He was an avid quail and rabbit hunter who loved to compete and judge in field trials. He was also a member of the Central Virginia Quail Hunters Association and Elk Creek Hunt Club. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Julia Dabney Trice Cameron; his son, Paul Stewart Cameron, Jr. (Tracy); son-in-law, Frankie Sheridan (Kris); two grandsons, Patrick Sheridan (Ann) and Tyler Cameron (Ashley); two granddaughters, Nikki Sheridan and Morgan Dabney Cameron Hollins (Dillon); five great grandchildren, Timmy, Halle, Julia, Henry and Holland; and his sister, Grace Cameron Flannagan, of Greensboro, NC. A graveside service will be held at 9am on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa, VA. A celebration of life will follow at the Chief Paul S. Cameron, Sr. Pavilion at Walton Park in Mineral, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Mineral Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
