Alice Jones

Alice Faye Chapman Jones went to rest high on the mountain in the early morning of January 9th, 2025.

Alice was a doting daughter, sister, wife, mother, and “Grammy” for 77 years. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Allan Greer Jones; their three children Alison Renae McLaughlin, Jason Allan Jones and his wife Susan, and Clint Devlin Jones; eight grandchildren, Emma McLaughlin, Ryland Jones, Holden McLaughlin, Gracie Jones, Elaina Jones, Nevaeh Jones, Bella Jones and Makaylah Jones; sister, Patricia Ann Davis; brother, Herbert Melvin “Bub” Chapman Jr. and his wife Bonda. 

Alice was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Walker Snoddy Chapman Pryor and father, Herbert Melvin “Mel” Chapman Sr.

Alice was an outstanding employee for the County of Fluvanna for 23 years in various positions and ended her career in 2011 as Administrative Assistant to the County Administrator.

She’ll be remembered for her many charitable contributions. Her life was full of friends, travel, crafting, and various animals over the years. She was greatly loved and will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her kind soul.

A funeral service will be held 11:00am Thursday, January 16 at Sheridan Funeral Home, 4626 Cedar Lane Road, Kents Store, Virginia, with a visitation will be held one-hour prior beginning at 10:00am.
