Ivey, Amelia Mathis 86 of Richmond, Virginia passed away June 05, 2024. Amelia is survived by her loving husband of 69 years George Napoleon Ivey; her two daughters, Sherrie Ivey Carter and her husband Henry “Hank” S. Carter, Jr. of Wichita Falls, Texas; Donna Ivey Sheridan and her husband Andrew “Mel” Sheridan of Kent’s Store, Virginia; her six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, Paul Holland Sheridan, wife Cameron and son Hughes; James Ivey Carter, wife Amberle and children Everly, Sterling, and Knox; Andrew Ivey Sheridan, wife Lauren and sons Andrew and Macon; John Anderson Sheridan, wife Lisa; David Lee Sheridan, wife Kimberlee and children Sadie and Cooper; and HannahLee Carter Duffey, husband Bryan and children Elsieclaire, Iveykay, Carter, and Creede; her nephew William H. Mathis, her best friend of many years Janette Melton; and her beloved toy poodle Napoleon.
Amelia treasured her nephews, nieces, family, and friends. Their correspondence, photos, and cards were always kept and were very special to her.
Amelia was a loving wife, devoted mother, loyal military spouse, hospital and Red Cross volunteer. She enjoyed arranging flowers, cooking, and hosting her family and friends. She was faithful and active in her church.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Spring Arbor of Richmond, Virginia for their compassionate and wonderful care and support during this difficult time.
A graveside service will be held 11:00am on June 8, 2024, at Byrd Chapel Church Cemetery, 5371 Venable Road, Kents Store, Virginia.
