Arthur Douglas Wilson, “A.D” transitioned to glory on April 27, 2023, at the age of 71.
AD was born on November 6, 1951, in Coatesville, PA. He attended schools in the Coatesville district and graduated from Coatesville Area High School; he then went on to graduate from Westchester State College located in PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Catherine Wilson; his sister, Patricia Twyman; his son, Markus Logan; and his mother-in-love, Therodora Logan. His presence, which was big throughout his family, will be missed; however, he leaves many legacies and memories. He leaves to cherish those memories: His wife of 30 years; Mary Logan-Wilson of New Canton, VA, two sons; Arthur “Dougee” Taylor (Tammy) of PA and Chandal Taylor (Regina) of FL, three daughters: Anita “Yonnee” Taylor of FL, Andrea “Dre” Wilson and Sheryka Logan of VA, twelve grandchildren: Elijah Clifford, Jaelyn, Arthur “DJ”, Rayna, Stephen, Isaiah, Kiana, and Noelle Taylor all of PA; Anija Forte of CO; Kimora Watson of FL; and Savannah and Savohn Bolden of VA, eight siblings: Gloria Twyman, Carol Jacks (Henry), Robert Wilson, and Susan Seals all of PA; Ernest Twyman (Ida) of DE; Stan Wilson (Celeste-deceased), Karen Whitfield (Al) and Kathleen Wilson all of GA, A lifelong and devoted friend L.A. Williams (Diane) of VA, six in-laws: Willie Logan (Wonda-deceased) of MD; Benjamin and Jerome (Maria) Logan of DC; Allen, Shirley and Patsy Logan all of VA. AD impacted multiple lives; including many nieces, nephews, God-children, cousins and friends. He also influenced the life of his nephew, Barry Wilson; whom he helped raise.
AD joined Zion Grove Baptist Church, located in New Canton, VA, upon moving to Buckingham County and was a faithful member until his health declined and COVID hit. AD sang in many choirs including Zion Grove Choirs, the Singing Jubilees and Christian Gentlemen. He co-formed God’s Singing Angels (GSA) and was the director, musician, Choir Dad and bus driver. AD dabbled in several professionals including teaching before finding his true calling in Corrections. He started his correctional career with the VA Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer at Powhatan-West Housing Unit . He retired in 2011 from Fluvanna Correctional Center as a Lieutenant. AD was a lover of music, especially gospel, Westerns and the Philadelphia Eagles. He could always be heard singing or humming a tune and he would often try to get others to sing along. He didn’t need musicians because he would create his own beats. If the radio wasn’t blasting gospel music, the tv was blasting CNN or Westerns - Gunsmoke, The Virginian & Wagon Train to name a few; unless the Eagles were playing.
AD will forever be remembered by Gerald Logan, his devoted caregiver. He will forever be cherished by June Logan, his 2nd wife.
AD AKA: Dad, Doug, Pop-Pop, Lt. Wilson and 80W 1, 2, 3, and 4 will be tremendously missed.
