On August 9, 2024, Brenda Page Crowder shed her earthly pain and made a graceful exit, surrounded by the love she had nurtured all her life.
Brenda was born to Mildred Watts Gardner and James W. Page in Lynchburg, Virginia on April 27, 1947, the oldest of their three children.
Growing up in the Thomas Road Baptist Church, Brenda developed a deep sense of spirituality, and her faith was a source of strength throughout her life. She was a devoted daughter and thoughtful sister to Sheila and JW. She and her sister were best friends who spoke every day, sometimes twice a day.
Brenda worked for many years in the insurance industry, earning the Worker’s Compensation Law Specialist designation and a CPIW designation from the International Association of Insurance Professionals. She was respected and well-liked by her colleagues, many of whom she remained in contact with even after her retirement.
Brenda loved flowers and working in her garden, making Christmas candy, Nugget, Dancing with the Stars, coffee with sweet-n-low and two ice cubes, mini powdered donuts, Elvis, floating in her pool, laughter, gatherings at her home, and her family.
Nothing brought Brenda more joy than her family. Brenda and Bill began a marriage that lasted 39 spectacular years filled with the rearing of children, the blessing of grandchildren and great grandchildren, many family gatherings at their home, and in Lynchburg, cruises to snowy and sunny locations, and most often, just enjoying each other’s company.
Her sons, PG, Tony, and Chad (or Pudgie, Dookie, and Dooby) are by far the accomplishment upon which she felt most proud. That they are kind, generous, compassionate, and have a genuine love for one another made their mother’s heart full. She worried about them, rooted for them, tried to protect them, was fallible, as all parents are, but always hoped they knew how much she loved them. She was proud of the women her sons married, respecting their strength and intelligence, and most of all she recognized their fierce commitment to their own families, because it matched her own. Brenda loved her whole family and had to the gift of making everyone feel like family.
She was Memaw to 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and countless others who were visiting. It was nothing for her, on a rainy summer day - or any day - to pull out boxes of crayons and construction paper so that she and the kids could begin the serious work of having a wonderful time. She found joy in their laughter
Left to cherish Brenda’s memory is her husband, Bill Crowder, sons, Paul G. Crouch (Jackie), James A. Crouch – Tony (Sarah), Joseph C. Crouch – Chad (Heather); daughter: Lauri S. Crowder (Joan); grandchildren Jessica, Justin, Ryan, Seth, Lydia, Jordin, Emmi and Eli; great-grandchildren Paislee, Parker, Luna and Olive. Brenda also leaves behind sister Sheila Miear (Micky), brother J.W. Page (Dawn) and beloved nephews and niece.
Brenda Page Crowder will be desperately missed. Today, and forever, she flies free.
