Shelton “Lamar” Brunson, 82, of Louisa, Virginia passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. He is survived by three children, Gene Brunson (Laurie), Angela Brunson-Bartlett (Brian), and Amanda Tiba (Hakam); five grandchildren; six sisters, Jeanette Brunson, Katherine Brunson, Lucretia Horton, Betty Willemoes, Dean Daniel, and Lucille Johnson; two step-sons, David Reese and John Reese; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Jean C. Brunson; two sisters, Earline Griffin and Louise Brunson, and one brother, Hollis Brunson. Born in Jackson, Alabama, he left as a young man in the Army, and later settled in Virginia. Lamar was proud of his military service and had fond memories of his travels in Europe after World War II. He was active in his local Masonic lodge. A long-time employee of Virginia Sprinkler before retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, history, attending Byrd Chapel Methodist Church and spending time with his close friends in the ROMEO Club. Always ready with a story, Lamar enjoyed conversing with everyone and connected with so many people in his community. He also enjoyed teaching others about his woodworking craft. An avid NASCAR fan, Lamar also followed his favorite college football team, the University of Alabama, “Roll Tide!” A private service was held on Saturday, February 13, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held later this year. Arrangements are being handled by Sheridan Funeral Home in Kents Store, VA 23084.
