Kathleen “Kathy” Burkett

Kathleen “Kathy” Burkett, 55, of Troy, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 7, 2021. She joined her father, DW Layton, in glory. She is survived by her loving husband, Jack, daughter, DeAnna, and son-in-law, Marcus, as well as, her mother, Linda, and siblings, Erin, Matt and Amy.

Kathy was born to DW and Linda Layton on January 14, 1966 at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. In September of 1984, she was joined in marriage to her best friend, Jack, while surrounded by adoring family and friends. They enjoyed 10 years of adventures before welcoming their daughter, DeAnna a.k.a. “Bugg,” in 1995.

She truly loved her life and made the best of it, despite circumstances that would have discouraged a weaker woman. She was involved with her church and choir all of her life. She was quick to welcome guests into her home, or give a ride to anyone in need. Kathy never knew a stranger; if you knew her, you loved her. Her huge smile and warm laugh could brighten the darkest room and cheer the coldest heart. She took great pride in caring for her family and her animals. Kathy was happiest when she was fishing alongside Jack on a beautiful, 83 degree day. She will live on in the hearts of all who love her. We wait patiently until we meet again in the arms of our Father.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 2:00pm at:
