David Eugene Carter, Sr., 77, who lived in Kents Store for 14 years, went to be with the Lord on Easter, April 12, 2020. He was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1942 in Washington, DC. He lived in Falls Church, VA for many years, where in 1987 he met his surviving wife, Cheri Carter, and eventually they moved to Kents Store, VA. He lived a fulfilled life withhis love for horses, dogs and animals as a whole. He had a wonderful singing voice, which you would hear while he played his guitar. He enjoyed his travels riding on his motorcycle. With such a large family, Dave would call himself “The Legend” and indeed he was one.
Among his careers, he worked for the National Zoo as a welder for the animal cages and as a guard for Wells Fargo/Loomis Fargo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cabell and Melba Carter. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cheri Carter; sister, Carolyn Carter and her children; his six children, David E. Carter, Jr., D. Wayne Carter, John Carter (wife Rachel andchildren), Vincent Carter (wife Grace and children), Derrick Carter (wife Andrea and children) and Christine Carter Sahm (and children).
David Eugene Carter, Sr. was buried on July 6, 2020 at Culpeper National Cemetery as a Private in the Marines.
