Catherine Cosner

Catherine “Kitty” Marks Cosner, 89, of Kents Store, Virginia, was called home on Monday, December 11, 2023.

She was born to the late Thomas Leroy Marks and Bessie Robinson Marks. She was also predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth H. Coser; her children, Dennis Leroy Cosner, David Adam Cosner and Lydia Cosner Napier and son-in-law, Ronald K. Napier; and her siblings Frasier Marks, Tommy Marks, and Eula Payne.

She is survived by her son Kenneth Daniel Cosner and his wife, June, of Palmyra; her grandchildren, Heather L. Cosner of Kents Store, Stuart K. Napier and wife, Tamara, of Palmyra, Shelly N. Yowell and husband, Shannon, of Palmyra, Jennifer C. Carver and husband, Donald, of Palmyra, Stephen Keith Napier and wife, Michelle, of Richmond, and Rachel L. Cosner; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Garrett Carver, Lydiah and Catherine Napier, Carter, Mason, Dawson, and Parker Yowell, Laurel Cosner, and Alyssa Napier; along with numerous extended family members and special friends.

Kitty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and liked nothing better than taking care of her family, friends, and neighbors. She retired from the Postal Service after working as the local letter carrier for many years. She always looked out for those in her community, bringing food or stopping to check in on those who were in need.  She loved gardening, baking, family genealogy, maintaining family connections, and watching the cattle and birds outside of the family room window.  A special thank you to Laura Ann Parrish, a cherished niece, Blanche Faudree, a loved cousin, and all who visited, telephoned, and helped to care for Kitty in her later days.

Visitation is Friday, December 15, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Sheridan Funeral Home, 4626 Cedar Lane Rd., Kents Store, Virginia. A remembrance service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Beulah Baptist Church, 1633 Kents Store Way, Kents Store, Virginia, with the Reverend Bobby Greene officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
