Lawrence Wesley Cawthorne, Sr., 73, passed away in Palmyra, Virginia on September 21, 2021. Lawrence was born in Fork Union, Virginia on November 9, 1947 to Annie Viola and Prince Wesley Cawthorne. Along with his loving parents, Lawrence is predeceased by two sisters, Ms. Maxine Mayo and Ms. Bessie Lyell, and a brother, Mr. William Cawthorne.
Lawrence attended Fluvanna County Schools and was thereafter a hard worker, having been employed at many locations including Cosner Brothers, The REA Energy Cooperative, RC Omohundro, Inc., and other esteemed locations before retiring in 2012 from Armstrong World Industries.
Lawrence is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Gail Lee of Fairfax, Virginia; children, Tammy Jo Richardson (Warren), Lawrence Wesley Cawthorne, Jr. (Kasity), Gary Wayne Cawthorne and Brian Lee Cawthorne (Morgan); a great number of adoptive sons he has acquired over the years; seven grandchildren, Jayden, Parker, Ethan, Trevor, Alaina, Savannah and Zoey; three sisters; a brother; as well as countless nieces and nephews.
Lawrence or "Buck" as he was so often called by his family and peers, loved the outdoors. He enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting as any country gentleman would. Being a diehard western film fan, he loved chatting with whomever would listen about his experiences over a "nice cold beer". He loved to talk, dance and put a smile upon everyone's face. Buck cared deeply for and touched the hearts of all whom crossed his path. He will truly be missed.
