Charles Walton

Charles Edward Walton, 77, passed away surrounded by family at his home on October 9, 2023.  

He was preceded in death by parents Irvin and Dorothy Walton and brother Thomas Walton. Charles was raised in Hanover County where he lived most of his life and was known as “Punk” by many friends and classmates from Patrick Henry High School. He earned his accounting degree from the University of Richmond, obtained his CPA license, and practiced in the Richmond area for over 40 years. Charles was active in civic and community groups, including the Mechanicsville Rotary Club as a founding member and past president, and he was a dedicated Sunday School teacher for many years.

Charles is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Walton; sons, Charles “CJ” Walton, Jr., David Walton (Amanda), Thomas Bourne (Amy); daughter, Tracey Williamson; brother, Ronald Walton (Teresa); sister-in-law Lois Walton; and grandchildren Ben, Ellie, Eli, Jacob, Andrew, Preston, Walker.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to At Home Care Hospice and the nurses who helped care for Charles, especially Hannah Bryant, Samantha Demarino, and Sonya Johnson.

Visitation will be held at Norman Funeral Home on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.  A graveside service at Grove Church Cemetery on Old Buckingham Road (Route 13) in Cumberland, Virginia 23040 will follow at 1:00 p.m.
