John William Cogswell, Jr., 88, died unexpectedly at his home in Lake Monticello, Palmyra, VA on February 21, 2022. He is survived by his son, John III, his wife, Lisa, and their sons, John IV and Matthew. John is also survived by his daughter, Diane. He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen, who was the love of his life, his brother, Robert, and his parents.
John was born and grew up in Brooklyn, NY and later moved to Queens, NY after marrying. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was employed until retirement by the Green Bus Lines which later became Command Bus Lines.
John was famous around Lake Monticello for driving the Cogswell Stone vehicle. He had many friends and was loved by all.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on April 9, 2022 from 2-4 pm at the Lake Monticello Fire and Rescue Squad in the Maple Room. His family welcomes anyone to stop by and share memories of John. Arrangements are being handled by Sheridan Funeral Home in Kents Store, VA.
