Daniel Wayne Proffitt

Daniel “Dan” Wayne Proffitt, 69, of Buckingham, Virginia passed away on October 30, 2023, at University of Virginia Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones.

Dan was born on July 23, 1954, to James and Elsie Proffitt, in Charlottesville, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Brenda Proffitt Morgan and Shirley D. Peery.

Dan lived an extraordinary life filled with adventure, laughter and love. Dan enjoyed his career as an owner/operator truck driver for over 40 years. Dan had many passions, he loved music, Nascar, and could be watching Jeopardy.

Dan is survived by his daughter, Victoria Melton (Steven) of Palmyra, his sons: Stephan Proffitt (Selena), Timothy Proffitt, Justin Canter (Valerie); a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Dan was like a father to many of his nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed by all.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
