John (Johnny) Howard Deane, 69, of Gordonsville, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2022. He is now reunited with his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Diane Lindsay Deane who passed away earlier this year.
Johnny was born on August 14, 1953, to Henry Hezekiah Deane and Alma Barbee Deane in Front Royal, VA. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Wilbur Paul Lindsay Sr., and Janice Gibson Lindsay Stephens, as well as his two brothers Henry Lee Deane and Billy Edwin Deane and brother-in-law David E. "Huck" Lindsay.
Johnny is survived by his brothers and sister in-laws; Henry Heath Deane (Alice), Ronald Hezekiah Deane (Patsy), sisters Linda Deane Davis and Sarah Deane Sisson (Phil); Brother-in-law Wilbur Paul Lindsay Jr., and sister-in-laws Janice L. "DeDe" Woodfolk and Nancy L. Butler (Bobby).
Johnny was blessed with a large and loving family to include his two beautiful daughters, Karen Marie Deane Hart (Daniel Slade), of Gum Spring, VA and Kelly Ann Deane Shifflett (Monty), of Gordonsville, VA.
Affectionately called “Papa Fish” by his grandchildren he loved telling them stories, teaching them to fish and spending time in the Outer Banks. They brought him so much joy and happiness. His grandchildren are Hayden Deane Hart, Gavin Slade Hart, Ivy Kaura Hart, Monty Lee Shifflett Jr. and Wyatt Cole Shifflett. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Johnny was a hard-working man and worked as a lineman until his retirement in the late 90’s. He also enjoyed working in his garden, restoring old boats and cars and fishing whenever he got the chance.
