Elizabeth Rose

It is with profound sadness that the family of Elizabeth Ryalls Rose ("Sis") announce her peaceful passing on February 6th, 2025, at the age of 98. 

Elizabeth is survived by her four children Glenn Rose (Doreen), Candace VanRuitenbeek (John), Debra Grogg (Mark), Craig Rose (JoAnn), nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William J Rose; her brothers William, Loving and Cecil White Ryalls; her sisters Helen Crutchfield, Lucille Davis and Edna Colley along with her parents William Marcus and Lula Arlene Ryalls.

She was raised on a farm in Fluvanna County, Virginia before moving to Washington D.C. after graduating from Fluvanna High School in 1943. While there she worked as a stenographer at the Pentagon in the Intelligence Division during World War II. It is there she met her husband, Bill. They were married for 40 years and lived in New Jersey before his passing in 1985.

She retired and moved to Lewes, Delaware in 1993 where she was an active member of the American Legion and AmVets organizations. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, and being with her friends. Most of all she loved her family. In 2017, she moved back to New Jersey to be near family in her final years.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15th at Bybee's Road Baptist Church, 4989 Bybee Church Road, Troy, with a viewing one hour prior to services for family that wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made in Elizabeth's name to the Bybee's Road Baptist Church Youth Fund. The family also wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Samaritan Hospice of Burlington County for their care and compassion.
