Elmer "Billy" Grubbs

Elmer “Billy” Lewis Grubbs of Palmyra, Virginia, passed away at home on December 31, 2024.

 He was born on October 8, 1926, to the late William and Dorothy Grubbs. He was raised by Isaac and Allie Cutright and considered them his family. He joined the US Navy during WW2 in 1944 and served through 1946. After leaving the Navy he worked in a variety of woodworking, cabinet making, and construction jobs. He worked at the UVA Hospital Maintenance Department for many years. 

He is joining his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Julia Jones Grubbs, and his many siblings, including Bertha Corr and Media Thomason. He is survived by his son Greg Grubbs of Indiana and daughter Vickie (Phil) Taylor of Virginia. He is survived by four grandchildren: Chad (Angie) and Todd (Jenn) Grubbs of Indiana, and Rachel and Andrew Taylor of Virginia. 

He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren. The family wants to thank his many friends who continued to keep up with him by phone calls, visits, and cards. 

A private graveside service will be held at Bybee’s Road Baptist Church Cemetery. Sheridan Funeral Home is serving the family.
