Ernie Atkinson Johnson

Ernie Atkinson Johnson, 88, of Goochland, Virginia, peacefully passed away on April 22, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, remembered for her warm spirit and kind heart.

Ernie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Earle S. Johnson. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Mikel Johnson (Sheila), Margaret Anne Keck (Chuck), and Sue Johnson. Her cherished role as a grandmother brought joy to her life, and she was proud to be a loving Granny to seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. They will fondly remember her famous "smashed-taters" and snickerdoodle cookies, which were a delicious highlight of their time together.

A graveside service honoring Ernie’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 28, at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 4768 Shannon Hill Rd., Columbia, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Hadensville Station 6 Fire and Rescue in Hadensville, Virginia, further reflecting Ernie's spirit of community service and support.

Ernie will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
