Florence “Rosalie” Henley passed away on October 31, 2024, at the age of 95. Rosalie was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Born on May 23, 1929, to Forrest and Florence Montgomery, Rosalie grew up in Rockville, Virginia. At the young age of 13, she faced the loss of her mother and stepped up to care for her two brothers, Forrest Jr. (Junie) and Joseph (Buddy). In 1948, Rosalie met and married her husband of 71 years, Earnest Henley. After Earnest passed away in 2019, Rosalie reflected that her only regret was wishing she had met him sooner so she could have loved him longer.
Rosalie had a deep passion for country music, especially the Statler Brothers and Alan Jackson. She loved playing cards and cooking meals for family, friends, or anyone who happened to stop by.
For the past five years, she lived at Sunrise Senior Living, where everyone affectionately referred to her as “Grandma.” Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband, and youngest son, Joseph Henley. She is survived by her first son, William Henley; her grandson, Michael (Emily) Henley; granddaughters Taylar (Alan) Fox and Katherine (Zachary) Lipscomb; and five great-grandchildren: Ragan, Colton, Mason, Adaleigh, and Charlotte, all of whom she adored greatly.
The family will have a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Gardens on November 5, 2024, at 2:00pm.
Rosalie’s memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
