Frances Wessells, a beloved educator and influential figure in the world of dance, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, at the age of 105. Born on August 18, 1919, in Colorado, Frances dedicated her life to the art of dance, inspiring countless students during her tenure at the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University.
She leaves behind her cherished sons, Michael Butler Wessells, Stephen Glenny Wessells, and Anthony Page Wessells, who continue to honor her legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Davies and HWB Davies, who undoubtedly instilled in her the values that guided her throughout her life; her first husband, John Howard Wessells, Jr., and her second husband, John Bailey.
