Franklin Adelbert Poleski Jr., 87, of Palmyra, Va died on October 21, 2023, at home with his family.
Born on July 11, 1936, in Michigan, he was preceded in death by his parents Franklin Adelbert Poleski Sr. and Grace Ann Richardson; his wife Wanda G. Poleski; two daughters Betty S. Poleski and Dawn M. Whipple and son in law Thomas C. Baber Jr.
Franklin was a Major in the US Army. He enjoyed gardening, researching Native American wars, and spending time with his family.
Franklin is survived by his four daughters; April M. Baber of Palmyra, Va, Melody L. Roberts and her husband Gregg of Palmyra, Va, Tara S. Weil and her husband Tony of Palmyra, Va, and Twila J. Spangler ; and her husband Ted of Reidsville, Nc.; seven grandchildren; Wanda M. Lynch and her husband Adam of Palmyra, Va, Thomas A. Baber of Spokane, WA, Ethel M. Wiersma and her husband Codi of Barboursville, Va, Theresa G. Baber of Palmyra, Va, Larry A. Poleski of Palmyra, Conrad T. Spangler of Reidsville, Nc, and Franklin Spangler of Reidsville, Nc.; two step grandchildren; Austin and Dalton Weil of Palmyra, Va; one great grandchild; Morey T. Wiersma of Barboursville, Va; three brothers; Gary Poleski and his wife Sharon of Kansas, Herb Poleski and his wife Shirley of Michigan, and Ivin “Shots” Poleski of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Randolph Lanford, the team at Hospice of the Piedmont and his caregiver Billy.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorial donations be made to The Paralyzed Veterans Association and the ASPCA of their choosing.
