Glenn W. Anthes

Glenn Wakefield Anthes (61), of Goochland, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. A life well-lived and full of joy, Glenn leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love and unforgettable memories.

Born to Dorothy and Howard Anthes on September 28, 1963, in Richmond, Virginia, Glenn brought boundless energy and charisma to the world. From a young age, his larger-than-life personality and quick wit made him the life of every gathering. A natural entertainer, Glenn’s humor, legendary dance moves and gift for storytelling brightened the lives of all who knew him.

Glenn’s memory will be cherished by his beloved wife of 38 years, Amy Rich Anthes; his three daughters: Blair Holder (Michael), Margaret (Maggie) Kirkland (Paul), and Dale Anthes; his four grandchildren: Jackson Holder, Brantley Holder, Reid Holder and Madden Longo; and his brothers Wayne Anthes and Scott Anthes (Arlene).

Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Howard John Anthes; his mother, Dorothy Freeman Anthes; his brother, Kris Cunningham Anthes; and his sister-in-law, Linda Anthes.

Glenn's zest for life was matched by his practical skills and open heart. Known for his knack for fixing just about anything – lovingly summed up by his grandson as “Pop Pop fic it” – he embraced challenges with humor and determination. Whether he was offering sage advice or lending a shoulder to lean on, Glenn was a source of comfort, joy to all those around him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 between the hours of 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Normans Funeral Chapel, 2982 River Road West, Goochland, Virginia. It will be a time to share laughter, stories, and maybe even a few dance moves—just like Glenn would have wanted.

We would like to express our appreciation to Virginia Cancer Institute, Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, and Hospice of Virginia for all their support.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Glenn’s legacy by sharing a joke with someone who needs it, dancing when a great song comes on, embracing life with the joy he so effortlessly shared, and know that all will “be alright”.

Rest easy, Glenn. Your laughter and love will live in our hearts forever.
