She was born in Columbia, VA, and after graduating from Fluvanna High School, briefly attended both Longwood College and Radford College before her marriage to Gene, and their subsequent move to the Northern Virginia area.
She was employed as a nutritionist at the Pentagon in the early 50’s until the birth of her first child. Her love of cooking, sewing and bowling were among her favorite activities. She was always there for her family and became an active member of the Winterset Community Garden Club for many years competing in flower arrangement competitions with other area garden clubs. She enjoyed the Eastern Shore, the Chesapeake Bay, the Blue Ridge mountains and travels across the country with family. She especially loved to observe, photograph and identify native wildlife and wildflowers with her late husband, children and grandchildren both at home and in her travels.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Griffin Pattillo of New Bern, NC; her son, David Eugene Griffin of Fairfax, VA; and three grandchildren, Chase Pattillo, Lauren Griffin and Kimberley Griffin.
The family will be receiving friends and family on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Sheridan Funeral Home in Kents Store, VA between the hours of 10:30am and noon. A private internment will be held at a later date.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Green Springs Farm Park, in Alexandria VA, at the following web address, or call 703-324-8581 .
