Janet was born on February 21st, 1967, to Harry and Marjorie Richardson.
Janet is survived by her husband Ed Palmateer, Daughters Kristin Catterton-Short & husband Jeff Short, Kendall Henly & husband Rob Henly, Jessica Wilson & husband Joshua Wilson, Kristin Palmateer & fiancé Cody Campbell, granddaughter Amelia Wilson, Mother Majorie Richardson, sister Sharon Hall & husband Robert Hall, brother Floyd Richardson & wife Krista Richardson. nephews Justin and Ryan Hall, Robert Richardson. As well as the Palmateer family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Janet is preceded in death by her father Harry Richardson and her daughter Ashely Catterton.
To know Janet is to know how much she loved her friends and family, her fur babies, and being on a beach somewhere. She had a beautiful family with a devoted husband, 5 daughters who she was so proud of, and dogs she also loved as her children. For years Janet was dedicated to public service working with the Prince George’s County Law Enforcement, the Charlottesville Police Department, and the Town of Louisa Police Department. In recent years, she has been dedicated to helping rescue dogs in need by volunteering and fostering with LRCP. She had the biggest heart, and when we think of someone being the definition of strength, we think of her. She dealt with the unimaginable pain no mother should ever encounter of losing a child, and she lived life day after day for the rest of her family who she knew still needed her.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, from 5-8 pm at Sheridan Funeral Home (4626 Cedar Lane Road Kents Store, VA).
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, 5/30, at 11 am at Mt. Eagle Baptist Church (2419 Buck Island Rd Charlottesville, VA) with interment to follow at Spring Grove Memorial Cemetery (111 Bridge Road Mineral, VA)
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking, if you feel moved to do so, please make donations in memory of her to Lab Rescue LRCP Group which she was so passionate about.
