Jimmie Dale Estes

Jimmie Dale Estes, 80, of Palmyra, Virginia passed away on January 23, 2025.

Jimmie was born on February 1, 1944, to James Woodrow Estes and Bonnie Miller Estes.

He is survived by his Wife Lorraine M Estes; his Daughter Jamie Dale Estes Riley (Rob); his beloved dog Fancy Girl; Granddaughters Carrie Dale Landis (Kellen), Tabitha Kay and Amanda Morton; great granddaughters Alexa, Shylee, and Collins and great-grandson Kaide Landis; his brothers Randy (Adele) Estes; Joel (Sofia) Estes; his sister Teresa (Jeff) McCanless and many loved nieces and nephews. 

Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Nicky Morton.

Jimmie was a career soldier and Vietnam Veteran retiring from the Army as a Sergeant Major after 28 years. He had a second career as a government employee for 17 years. 

In retirement, Jimmie loved watching and listening to the birds. His yard was a source of pride, and he never met a plant or flower he couldn't grow. He also never met a stranger, and if you knew him you loved him. Jimmie loved sweets and snacking and desperately loved his family. 

A visitation will be held between the hours of 3-4:30pm on Thursday January 30th, at Sheridan Funeral Home, 4626 Cedar Lane Road, Kents Store, Virginia,

His funeral service will be held 11:00am, Friday, January 31st, at Amelia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Courthouse, Virginia.

He is in the care of Sheridan Funeral Home.
