Lorraine Estelle Johnson passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 3, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Lee Johnson; daughter, Glenda H. Williams; and grandson, Paul Williams.
Lorraine was born on February 28, 1929. She met and married Forrest Lee Johnson and had seven children from this union. Lorraine was a homemaker and very creative. She also made her children clothes when they were younger. Lorraine wasn't afraid of hard work and did domestic work.
Lorraine learned the truth initially from Sally Bell and continued her knowledge with the help of her niece, Louise Wise. She was dedicated and baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her niece helped her develop a love of Jehovah and the ministry. She made sure her children learned the truth and attended all of their meetings, conventions and assemblies with limited means. She once cut wood to earn enough money to attend a convention in Yankee Stadium. Lately, she wasn't able to attend the meetings in person, but continued to listen to her meetings via Zoom faithfully until her death.
Lorraine always loved being on the go, no matter the means of transportation. She went to Barbados numerous times, since she had the privilege of going to the international conventions, making lots of new friends. Her love of travel was passed down to her children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed being in the yard with her flowers, doing puzzles, collecting things and being "sweet Lorraine". She had a way of making people laugh and was never a stranger to anyone. She enjoyed her grandchildren and even had special names for them all.
She is survived by her children, Forrest Johnson (Caroline), Portia Gresham (James), Cynthia Thurston (James), Arnold Johnson (Judy), Ronald Johnson and Shelia Weathers (Amsie); grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
