Joanne S. Jones, 85, of Fork Union, VA, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Joanne was born September 7, 1936, to Kent Snead and Rosalie Seldon Snead of Fork Union, VA. She was predeceased by her parents, Kent and Rosalie Snead; her husband, Franklin M. Jones; and her sister, Marjorie Snead Farrar. Joanne received her B.S.Ed. from Madison College (now James Madison University) and her graduate degree from Longwood University. She taught in the Fluvanna School System for 50 years, retiring from Central Elementary School in 2009. Her passion was teaching respect for others, honesty and perseverance in all things, including helping children achieve success in reading and math. Joanne’s life was dedicated to family, church and the education of children. She loved writing short stories, plays and poems. She frequently wrote poems for family and friends to celebrate any milestone achieved in their lives. She also enjoyed volunteering for school organizations, numerous other civic organizations and at her church. Her bright smile and always positive attitude made all co-workers and friends feel welcome and uplifted. She truly loved gathering with her family and felt such joy and pride in seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our tiny, but mighty Mimi will be loved and missed forever.
