Mary Jo Butler Christian

Mary Jo Christian, 75, of Louisa, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024. She was born on July 5, 1949, in Charlottesville, Va to the late Willie and Bess Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Christian. 

Mary Jo was truly one of a kind. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was so much to so many; an amazing mother, a devoted grandmother (JoJo), a loving sister and a treasured friend. She loved spending her days in Cape Charles, front porch sitting, watching the sunsets and being with the girls. She loved to entertain and have a good time. She had an incredible sense of humor and brought laughter and joy wherever she went. She embraced life and the beauty of it no matter what she faced. 

She leaves behind daughters, Kelly Botto (Chris), Jana Baber (Jimmy), a son, Dusty Christian and grandchildren, Chase, Tyler, Christian, Brennan and Charlotte. A brother, Gene Butler, sisters, Marsha Newton (Danny), Melisa Butler and Tammy Mahanes (David), Cousin Christine Holmes, nieces and other extended family. Lastly, she leaves a multitude of friends that she so deeply cherished.

Our world will never be the same and although she is no longer with us, we will carry on her legacy of love, laughter and gratefulness.

A celebration of Mary Jo’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7th, from 2-4 at the VFW, 1170 River Rd., Charlottesville, VA.
