Donald J. Ringwood went home to be with his Heavenly Father January 4th, 2022.
Born in New York, he moved to Fluvanna at an early age. Donald graduated from Fluvanna High School and joined the Navy, serving on the Destroyer USS Manley on the east coast, and the aircraft carrier the USS Oriskany on the west coast. He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara, of 62 years, one sister, Thelma Collins of Chester, grandson, Timothy Ringwood of Palmyra, granddaughter, Christina Shoemaker of New Canton, and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Shoemaker. He is preceded in death by his two sons that went home to their Heavenly Father. Donald served 15 years on the Fluvanna Rescue Squad and the Kents Store Fire Department. Later, he joined the 116th medical unit in Charvel as a combat medic, later serving as the 1st sergeant. Donald worked with the P.E. students at Open Door Christian School and drove the school van. He loved his dear family at Open Door Christian Church.
