Robert White

WHITE, Robert Wills, went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2024.  Bob was born in Albemarle, Virginia on June 13, 1939, to Milton and Lucille Perkins White.  He graduated from Louisa County High School in 1957 and entered the Marine Corps.   Following an honorable discharge from the military, he went to work for Standard Drug Company where he spent his entire career working in retail, rising to the position of District Manager.  Following his official retirement, Bob continued to work for CVS in a part‐time capacity.  He was a long‐time member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and served in many roles there, including Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and chair of the cemetery committee.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judith Payne White; and brothers-in‐law, Warren Payne and C.M. Shiflett.  He is survived by his wife, Joan Thompson White; daughters, Becky Pizzini (Chris) and Cathy Campbell (Glenn); grandchildren, Melanie Johnson (Joe), Maura Campbell and Thomas Pizzini; brother, Elton White; sister, Dale Shiflett; brother in‐law, John Payne (Cheryl); stepdaughters, Tammy Proffitt (David) and Jennifer Layton (Steve); step‐grandson, Joshua Jones; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was a faithful servant of God and a friend to all; he never met a stranger.  Visitation will be held Saturday, March 23, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street, Glen Allen.  A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 4768 Shannon Hill Road, Columbia, Virginia.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
