Rosemary Snead Reardon passed away in her home in Carysbrook, Virginia, on July 20, 2024, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Fluvanna County on June 10, 1944, to Robert Kent and Rosalie Snead. She is survived by her children: daughter, Michelle and son-in-law, Christopher Graham; daughter, Cheryl Reardon; and son, Kent Reardon (Emily) and grandsons, Tyler Graham (Abbie), Quintin Christmas, Trey Christmas and granddaughter, Megan Graham and her trusty sidekick, Bear, her dog. Also surviving Rosemary are her brothers, Stuart Snead (Judy), Charles Snead (Joanne) and brother-in-law, Donald Reardon (Anna) and a host of nieces and nephews and other family. Rosemary battled Alzheimer’s and after her husband, Larry passed away in 2019, she spent the next four years with her children by her side.
Our family would like to express our deep gratitude to Mom’s caregiver, Mary Kline who spent nearly two years with her as companion and friend. Our mom, Rosemary had a deep and abiding faith and was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church and their pastor, Scot David and church members were a second family to mom.
She was an avid sports fan especially basketball and would keep her pad and pencil ready to keep score of the games she watched whether on TV or in person. She enjoyed a good game in person and while she cheered for UVA, Va Tech and Duke, she especially loved VCU men’s basketball.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 27th, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Bethel Baptist Church, Palmyra, VA. A church service will be conducted on Sunday July 28 at Bethel Baptist Church in Palmyra, Virginia, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local SPCA or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
