In Loving Memory of Sherry Annette Bradford

Sherry Annette Bradford, 64, of Fluvanna County, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home in Troy, Virginia, on April 4, 2025. Born on September 13, 1959, to Willia Mae Compton and the late Nolan Blackwell, Sherry brought light, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone she encountered.
Sherry was a beloved wife, sister, mother, aunt, and friend. She was known for her vibrant spirit, quick wit, and warm, giving heart. A true lover of music, she filled every room with her beautiful voice, her joyful dance moves, and her radiant energy. Whether you needed a laugh, a listening ear, or the latest music recommendations, Sherry was always there with open arms.
For 13 years, Sherry proudly served as the longest-standing Night Auditor Supervisor at the Omni Hotel in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was more than an employee—she was family. Her unwavering dedication, leadership, and loyalty made her a cherished member of the Omni community, which she lovingly referred to as her second home.
She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, James A. Bradford Jr., whom she adored and cared for with all her heart. Sherry also leaves behind her brothers Kerwin Blackwell and Nolan Blackwell Jr., and her sister Anitra Blackwell, all of Joliet, Illinois. She was a proud and loving mother to her adopted son, Bryan Jones, and she considered her loyal German Shepherd, Zero, her second son and constant companion.
She is also remembered with love by her many nieces and nephews, her two sisters-in-law, Diane Carter, Capitol Heights, MD and Beatrice Bradford, Grand Prairie, TX, two brothers-in-law of Charlottesville, VA, a very special nephew she asked to share as a son Jahsaan Bradford-Carter a host of cousins, cousin-in-laws, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
Sherry was preceded in death by her beloved son Richard Boyd and her father, Nolan Blackwell.
Her legacy is one of unconditional love, joy, and strength. She gave her all to the people she loved, made every space brighter with her presence, and always kept us smiling. Her life was a true blessing, and her memory will be cherished forever.
Service Information:
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Sherry at a later date. The family will share details soon and welcomes all who knew and loved her to join in celebrating a life so deeply and beautifully lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Sherry by turning up your favorite song, sharing a laugh, and loving your people hard—just like she did every single day.
