Shirley Anne Layne Schuh, 78, passed away peacefully at Aspire Health in Brooksville, Florida on November 1, 2024. She was comforted by her family and her Aspire (Heron Pointe) friends and caregivers.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Phyllis Layne of Crozier Virginia and her late husband, Harold Schuh of Bushnell Florida. Shirley is survived by her brothers, Douglas Layne (Carol) of Manassas, Virginia and Calvin Layne (Debbie) of Lewisville, North Carolina.
Shirley lived in Florida after she graduated from Lynchburg College where she enjoyed the friendship of many friends and RV adventures. During her time in Florida, she was successful in managing the Tampa General Hospital Blood Bank and later running a data records company. After she married her late husband, Harold Schuh, they owned and managed the mobile home park, Majestic Oaks and the restaurant Eagles Nest in Bushnell Florida. Shirley loved plants and cats. She was a friend to everyone and always made it a point to say hello and check in on you. She was a kind and caring individual who never had a harsh word for anyone she met.
Since her stroke in 2011, Shirley made her home at Aspire Health (Heron Pointe Health) nursing home in Brooksville Florida. With her warm and friendly personality, she quickly became the “ambassador” of Heron Pointe. She never complained about her physical limitation and her spirit uplifted all of the residents and staff.
Shirley will be interned at Grace Episcopal Church in Goochland Virginia at a later date. Shirley would be honored to have you make a donation to your local animal clinic or plant some colorful Thanksgiving flowers in her memory.
