On Wednesday May 29, 2019, Floyd Ray Tanner, loving husband, father, and grandfather went to be with the Lord at the age of 87.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steve, his mother, Emma, his father, Joe and ten of his siblings.
Ray survived by his wife, Ruby of 62 years, his children Donna Smith (Tommy), Doug Tanner, Cheryl Jordan (Jay), and Joe Tanner (Sally), his grandchildren Michael Perkins (Rebekah), Timmy Perkins (Kacy), Jason Jordan (Anna), Ashley
Goodman (Bobby), and Allison Smith (Scott), great-grandchildren Lillian Jordan, Caleb and Avery Perkins, and Liam Goodman, his sister Mable Wright, Bernice (Ludy) Dudley, Ruby Riner, Robert (Bob) Tanner, and Doris McDaniel.
Ray is a Korean War Veteran where he earned a Purple Heart medal.
Services will be held Saturday June 1 at 11am at Byrd Chapel United Methodist Church in Kents Store. The family will receive family and friends an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hospice of the Piedmont.
