John Matt Jr. Taylor

John Matt Taylor, Jr., 78, of Palmyra, VA, went home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2022. God whispered his name and he left his earthly home. He was born on August 23, 1943 in Palmyra, VA to his parents, the late John Taylor, Sr. and late Sallie Elnora (Taylor) Bland. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, George Bland Sr.; brother, Jerome; and his grandparents, Miles and Susan Jackson. John was a United States Army Veteran. He also joined Evergreen Baptist Church at an early age. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Rose; four children, Amy, John, Atwan and Chay; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his siblings, George (Phyllis), Geraldine (Curtis), Daniel, Janice (Oslow), Audrey (James), Beatrice (Leonard), Sandra, Douglas (Thelma), Donna (Robert), Marilyn (Timothy), David (Hope), Ernestine and John (Diane); one aunt, Marion Martin; three dedicated cousins, Richard, Joyce and Lewis; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at Evergreen Baptist Church, in Palmyra, VA, on February 9, 2022. A walk through will be 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. and a graveside service will follow immediately at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
