Wilmer Franklin “Frankie” McGuinn

Wilmer Franklin “Frankie” McGuinn of Palmyra, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the McGuinn Farm. He was born to Herbert and Lillie McGuinn on August 23, 1942.

Frankie is survived by his daughters, Angela Blevins (Larry) of Palmyra, VA and Kristin Haislip (Travis) of Scottsville, VA;eight grandchildren that he loved to tease, Ashley, Chelsey, Caleb, Jacob, Brian, Riley, Blake and Caroline; and five great grandchildren, Annie May, Everett, Lucy, Silas and Benny. In addition to his immediate family, Frankie is survived by his sister, Jean Richardson, and her daughter, Jackie (Bill and Ryan). His loving dog, Sugar, stayed by his side.

Frankie loved playing basketball and was the youngest baseball pitcher to pitch for Fluvanna County High School during his time there. After high school, he played baseball for Greenwood in Albemarle County and expanded his baseball career into Kentucky. He was scouted by both the Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles in 1960.

Frankie was a Virginia State Trooper in the 1960’s and then was one of the founders of the Prince William County Police Department in July, 1970. He retired as captain. He was an avid gardener and always had the biggest crops.

We would like to thank Davita, Dr. McConnell, Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation and staff for their help in his health care.

We would like to invite family and friends to join us in celebrating the life of Frankie at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Lyles Baptist Church in Palmyra, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frankie’s memory may be made to the Prince William County Police Survivors Trust.
